Our iPad’s arrived at Saasu HQ today. So here’s a quick example of Saasu’s online accounting working on an Apple iPad. I ran the dashboard and a tax report.
Noticeably it’s fast and easy to navigate. We have also got it working in an iPad keyboard dock and it is clearly usable like a PC. You find yourself using the screen instead of the mouse quite naturally. Originally I was thinking it may sit outside the netbook and laptop demographics but having tried it firsthand it will be strong in that space.

Completely agree with you about the iPad being the next evolutionary step in computing. This device really brings “movie style” computing to the masses. Quickly portable, easy to use and supremely consumption oriented (the App store – office applications for $13 each!).
I am eagerly awaiting Saasu’s response (new/upgraded) features to this new hardware platform.

Thanks Ben, we have an iPhone app in waiting which will be recoded for the iPad after initial release and feedback. That said you can run iPhone apps in 2x mode on the iPad and they work well.

Hello SAASU Community
Not being your average Accountant, I picked up my iPad from Apple Bondi on Friday (release day) and am very pleased to report that SAASU works really well on the iPad. I have been on the road today and managed my complete suite of office products – email, web, diary, time billing – all on the iPad whilst talking on the iPhone. Prior to the iPad being released, I had to carry around a laptop (still do) and try to manage my diary whilst talking. Now I have a device that allows me to do the two activities at the one time. The load speed is very good on Telstra 3G and I can’t recommend the iPad highly enough.
As a larger capacity hand held device, the options for creating real time data feeds and dashboards out of SAASU an onto your iPad are now possible.
Looking forward to working with this terrific technology.
Thanks
Martyn

Great job Marc! You guys keep right up with the trends and thats why I rave about Saasu so much. This is another great reason for me to buy an iPad when I see how it solves a business problem on the fly. Health-E-Options will benefit from your hard work, many thanks

So how do the graphs work on the IPAD – haven’t you implemented them as FLASH ?
Comment by Ewen — June 10, 2010 @ 1:55 am
@ewen. The graphs are being converted to Canvas from Flash at the moment.
Comment by Marc — June 11, 2010 @ 12:37 am
@lisa soon, fingers crossed, changes in the developer agreement by Apple held it up.

Thanks Mark, to be upfront though there wasn’t much to do. The iPad Safari browser handled it quite nicely for us.

It’s great using Saasu on the Pad. My only sticking point is lack of options from Safari when it comes to the PDFs. Printing (in prep for email) multiple sale orders produces the great PDF file as usual, but I can’t save it or email it

@paul
ah yes printing on the iPad is a catch. at the moment print runs need to be done with that old world device – the desktop computer! it’s frustrating, agree. we found printing and flash support in the iPad as they two main negatives after using it for a couple of weeks.

Hi,
Any support for the iPhone yet – specifically an application?
Cheers
Matt

Not quite yet sorry Matt. Needs US approval before we can release it. It has Contacts, Quotes, Invoicing and Inventory.

I already use Saasu on my Android phone (HTC Desire) and it works very well. Will wait for the first Android tablet rather than iPad.

This looks very interesting and is enough of a reason for us to trial it.

Just got my iPad. It’s a great tool for business and fantastic if one is a reader. It is ideal for showing presentations one to one, product photos, looking up the price list etc. It’s more natural than firing up a laptop, not to mention a lot quicker
The only disappointment is that no Flash means the useful saasu graphs won’t display.

This tricks everyone
Two fingers to scroll in the iPad for text fields and some drop downs.
