Our iPad’s arrived at Saasu HQ today. So here’s a quick example of Saasu’s online accounting working on an Apple iPad. I ran the dashboard and a tax report.
Noticeably it’s fast and easy to navigate. We have also got it working in an iPad keyboard dock and it is clearly usable like a PC. You find yourself using the screen instead of the mouse quite naturally. Originally I was thinking it may sit outside the netbook and laptop demographics but having tried it firsthand it will be strong in that space.
Saasu now allows you to set your own financial year end and payroll year end date. We have migrated customer files to the default financial year ends for your zone so you may not need to do anything.
The nice thing about this feature is that it flows through to your Dashboard, Reports, Lists filters and more.
To update or change your financial year end go to Settings > File Identity.
Many customers have been asking for a cashflow widget for their Saasu online accounting dashboard so we decided to release an initial version.
Use the cashflow widget to:
This widget gives you some quick ways to observe trends in your cashflow over time.
See where you Saasu bank account balances are at in Saasu and how up to date your reconciliations are.
Track how much money investors and directors are putting in or taking out of the business.
We also added the ability to quickly pick up bank files from your computers desktop that you have exported or received via email from your bank. This area will also provide status updates about bank feeds when we make that feature available.
We want to build a version 2 of this widget with more capability that allows you to look forward in time and take into account automated transactions and payroll.
Add the cashflow widget to your Dashboard by clicking the Manage link in the blue header bar.
Yesterday I was trying to think of a name for a min-release with lots of little goodies in it. As it happened, I caught up with Peter one of our main investors from CooperSydney. It reminded me of an expression he had for those little things a application development company can do that make a web application like Saasu pleasing to use. He calls them "tidbits"
Tidbit Noun
1. Delicate morsel or bit of food.
2. Pleasing bit of anything, as in news or gossip.
Gary Barber (a customer, AWIA colleague and an all round web nice-guy) is a web usability expert from Radharc. Gary reminded me late last year about the importance of the little things in customer experience. Quite often we have to get major features out and we can’t attend to every single customer experience detail perfectly due to time and resource constraints. Our usual approach is to come back in a second and sometimes third time to change our approach for the better. We also have the advantage of good customer feedback to work with. In our business how we build things, even small differences, can mean a lot to our customers. So here’s a few new "tidbits"
Tidbit features released
The Bank Reconciliation now recalls your last reconciled date for you when you load it.
You can now print Activities. Note you need to save it before the print option becomes available.
The Dashboard refreshes automatically when you sign-in each day.
Duplicate Purchase invoice number warnings. To help prevent accidental double capture of transactions.
Improvements to the General Ledger and Tax Report performance. Some customers were getting a timeout error when running it during our busy periods. There are more performance enhancements coming for these reports.
API users can now recall Last Modified and Deleted for period to assist in syncing tasks with other systems. See our SaaSbay for a list of other web applications and software connected to Saasu.
API users can now assign a shipping contact via the API to an invoice.
